Sí bien es cierto, ubuntu es uno de los más estables, pero su entorno gnome nunca me ha hecho gracia que digamos... me gustó siempre Kde (al ser bastante similar a windows), de hecho, para los que intentan emigrar de windows a linux, las versiones con kde son la mejor alternativa pero (k)ubuntu, no lo recomendaría yo personalmente.

por lo general, kubuntu me gusta mucho, pero su inestabilidad me da más de un quebradero de cabeza y la mayoría de fallos o no se corrigen o has de esperar a hacer una reinstalación limpia del sistema operativa en posteriores versiones. Algunos fallos molestos son:

- drivers privativos obsoletos (nvidia)
- los efectos kwin manifiesta un sentimiento "lag" o no smooth en las ventanas (ej, alt+tab o minimizar ventanas) que desaparecen cuando fuerzas el ordenador (pulsar varias veces alt+tab por ejemplo en cambiar ventanas en caráctula).
- errores en los orígenes de software con kpackagekit.
- muchos programas se autocierran.
- a veces el portatil no se despierta de hibernación o suspención.
- se rompen dependencias o algunos paquetes son extremadamente delicados si los borras.
- otros paquetes y progrmas provativos (ej. opera) dan enormes problemas.
- acroread se bloquea.
- adobe flash, se congela a veces (en youtube)
- openoffice se autocierra muchas veces y necesita constantemente la recuperación de los documentos.
- openoffice impress (porwepoint) es extremandamente lento y consume demasiados recursos de la CPU y la RAM.
- imposibilidad de instalar nuevos temas plasmas, plasmoids, iconos, o fondos de escritorio.
- iconos se pierden.
- wi-fi puede autoestropearse y pierde los drivers.
- y un sin fin de pequeños errores que la verdad, no es que sea un sistema indicado para los que migren de windows a linux.

por eso me preguntaba si con mandriva se corrigen o no esos problemas (al menos tu palabra) porque estoy por cambiarme a dicho sistema la verdad.
