Los andaluces, muy lejos ya de poder ascender, remontaron un 0-1 y acabaron imponiéndose por un contundente 4-1, reduciéndose las posibilidades de salvación de los canarios.
La situación debió hacer gracia a muchos aficionados gaditanos, ya que la parroquia local, con el partido resuelto y ante una Unión Deportiva abocada al descenso, acabó cantando aquello de "¡A Segunda B! ¡A Segunda B! ¡A Segunda B!". Esos cánticos puedo entenderlos en partidos de máxima rivalidad o en situaciones especiales (cuando media una provocación, por ejemplo), pero en aquella ocasión me parecieron tan crueles como innecesarios. Sobre todo, teniendo en cuenta que los andaluces habían salido hacía poco del pozo de la Segunda B, tras nueve años de pesadilla, y debían saber lo que significa. Así que, ese día, se disipó de un plumazo toda la simpatía que sentía por el Cádiz y su afición.
Evidentemente, en esa jornada de hace ya cuatro años, a ningún aficionado cadista se le pasaba por la cabeza que el futuro les tenía reservado un capítulo tan cruel como el que vivieron este fin de semana en Alicante, en el partido que los enfrentó al Hércules. Con empate a uno, el arbitro del choque señalaba un polémico penalti a favor de los andaluces en el minuto 50 de la segunda mitad. Convertir la pena máxima enviaba al Córdoba a la Segunda B y salvaba a los gaditanos. Pero el lanzamiento de Abraham Paz y las ilusiones de todos los cadistas se estrellaron en el poste. El Cádiz se convertía así, nuevamente, en equipo de Segunda División B.
No me malinterpreten: aunque, hasta cierto punto, me alegro de este descenso (llámenme "rencoroso" si quieren), lo cierto es que me gustaría ver a los andaluces muy pronto fuera del pozo. Y ojalá que no tarden en cruzarse en el camino de UD Las Palmas pero, puestos a pedir, que sea en Primera División, ¿no?
Así que ánimo a la familia cadista, especialmente a Abraham Paz y, la próxima vez que pase por el Carranza un equipo como aquella UD Las Palmas de la 2003/04, piensen que es cuestión de tiempo que ustedes se vean en una situación similar.
